Middleton Potts Closes Landmark Transaction in Mozambique
Senior Banking and Corporate Partner, David Godfrey, led the Middleton Potts team which acted for Portugal’s oldest bank, Montepio Geral, on the sale of the controlling interests of twelve shareholders in one of Mozambique’s premier banks - BDC - Banco de Desenvolvimento e Comércio - to a newly-constituted Mozambique subsidiary of FirstRand Bank Holdings. The complex transaction governed by English law was announced in Maputo to a large gathering of ministers, diplomats and other dignitaries from the financial and business community in Mozambique.
